Baseball sponsors bluegrass concert
Rhonda Vincent and the Rage are coming to Baldwin Auditorium on Oct. 27, performing a concert to benefit the University baseball team's scholarship fund.
Advance tickets can be purchased at Bogie's Restaurant at 208 S. Main St. and are $8 in advance and $10 at the door.
Kids 3 years old and under get in free. The matinee show starts at 2 p.m. and the evening show begins at 7 p.m.
Swimming opens with win over Nebraska
The women's swimming team opened the season by defending its national championship with a dual victory over the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, 152-101.
The Bulldogs won 11 of 14 events at the meet and qualified five individuals for the NCAA Division II National Championships.
Senior Kelli Dudley qualified for nationals in the 200-yard backstroke and 100-yard backstroke, senior Sara Hatcher qualified in the 50-yard freestyle, freshman Meredith Rocha qualified in the 200-yard butterfly, senior Liz Hug qualified in the 200-yard freestyle and sophomore Diana Betsworth qualified in the 1,000-yard freestyle.
Five to be inducted into Athletic Hall of Fame
Five former student-athletes will be inducted into the Truman State University Athletics Hall of Fame at halftime of the football game Saturday.
The athletes include Felicia Baker (Holt, Mich.), Andre Gillespie (Florissant, Mo.), Stan Dippel (Mason, Mich.), Michael Harris (Apple Valley, Minn.) and Kerry Knepper (Martelle, Iowa).
A pre-banquet reception in the athletes' honor will begin at 6 p.m. in the Student Union Building. After the reception, the banquet and induction ceremony will begin at 7 p.m. in the SUB Georgian Room.
Banquet tickets are $15 and are available at the Athletics Office in Pershing Building.
