Students seek to rebuild New Orleans

In response to the need for assistance in New Orleans, students dedicated to making a difference have lent helping hands to aid in rebuilding a city ravaged by Hurricane Katrina. So while many watched the storm and flooding destroy the city, Eickholt took action. Eickholt started by organizing a group of students who traveled to the city during last year’s spring break and helped with the relief effort. On the way home, Eickholt and his roommate, Dan Wendt, decided they needed to return, and as a result, Central Ohio Katrina Relief was born. Now Eickholt and Wendt are organizing another group of students to travel to New Orleans to help rebuild the Gulf Coast’s natural resources, shrimp and agricultural industry.
