Bulls rugby beats Iowa St. in season opener

The Bulls rugby squad overcame a slow start to defeat Iowa State University (Ames) 24-10 in the squad's first regular-season match.

Both squads had trouble scoring in the first half with the halftime score knotted at three each. But a favorable wind helped the Bulls offense come alive in the second half with seniors Luke Walczewski, Justin Carley and Joe Rothermich all contributing  21 second-half points.

The B squad also won its first match of the year 13-0.

The Bulls open their home schedule against the University of Kansas (Lawrence) at 1:30 p.m. Saturday on the rugby field.
