ROTC Cadets Soon To Be Graduates and Army Officers

I am TSU Class of '87as well as Bulldog Battalion commissionee. The combination of Truman's critical thinking in all aspects of education, and the training received in ROTC will prepare these cadets for successful careers as officers and leaders in society. I look at my own class and about half of us became Lieutenant Colonels, which is the mark a successful career. Considering only about 1/4 of all officers make it to that rank from commissioning, it shows how this pays off. I think this is a pretty good representation of of what ROTC is today, having also taught it for 8 years at anotehr institution.

I do have to take issues with the peace protest shown in the video. While I support people's first ammendment rights, the exploitation of the names of soldiers killed in action is very inappropriate. I saw the name of Will Edens listed there. He was my student, neighbor, coworker and friend. He married my next door neighbor and we dealt with the aftermath with many of his friends after he was killed in action in Iraq. He was a great patriot and would never approve of his name being exploited in this manner. Please respect his memory by not using it in this manner.
