Campus-area bank to remodel over bank
While Ohio State students are taking a break from the books over winter vacation, the National City Bank office on 16th Avenue and High Street will be taking a break from banking.Beginning Dec. 16, the branch office will close its doors for remodeling. It will reopen on Jan. 6, 1997 according to a statement released by National City Bank.Missing from the new office will be some of the traditional sights that one would expect in a bank. A U-shaped counter, which was developed to reduce transaction time replaces teller windows and management desks.Other changes to the office will include computerized transaction equipment, two ATMs, self-service safe deposit boxes and a new format designed to increase efficiency.’All of our customer service representatives will now be able to provide customers with a full range of banking services,’ said Stan Harris, National City vice president and regional manager. ‘From cashing a check or making a deposit, to purchasing travelers checks or initiating a loan application, everything will be accomplished by working with a single National City employee.’Because of the remodeled banking center on 16th and High, the south campus branch of National City Bank will close on March 1, 1997. The ATMs will remain in place as long as possible and all accounts will be transferred to the 16th and High office.
