The story begins in 1976, when Grim Hall was still a residence hall for athletes, one year before it became freshman housing. It begins in the basement, where four football players were placed in a two-and-two suite. Two were sophomores and two were the only freshmen in the hall — one a walk-on fullback and the other a quarterback.
